The Grand Shaykh cannot be self-appointed. They are appointed by the current Grand Shaykh based on their Islamic knowledge and Spiritual strength. Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adil Ar-Rabbani was appointed by the 40th Grand Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani Ar-Rabbani (qs) before he passed away.
Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adil completed his Islamic education from the scholars of Syria and received spiritual training in the practices of the Naqshbandi Order from both the 39th Grand Shaykh Abdullah Al Faiz Ad Daghestani (qs) and his father the 40th Grand Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani Ar-Rabbani (qs).
The lineage of Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adil through his father Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani Ar-Rabbani (qs) traces back to Mawlana Shaykh Muhiyyuddin Abdul Qadir Jilani (Ra), the most famous Saint of Islam and Mawlana Shaykh Jalaluddin Rumi (Ra), the well-known Sufi Saint. Hajja Amina Adil, his mother is also from the blood of Prophet Muhammad. Therefore his lineage traces through his father and mother to the family of Prophet Muhammad.
According to the 39th Grand Shaykh Abdullah Al Faiz Ad Daghestani (qs) Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adil will be Seven (7) times more powerful Spiritually than his predecessor the 40th Grand Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani Ar-Rabbani (qs).
